On the Avantsphere, nothing is wasted. Not life, not death. By systems only vaguely understood by a handful of master scribes and experienced researchers, there exists a process of recycling vitality and reincarnating the essence again. This will bring a dude back to the Sphere again in a different body with a different mind, but some amount of "soul" remains imbedded in the new dude.

Despite only a basic understanding of how this functions, it is common knowledge that death is not an end so much as it is losing everything you have and starting over, or getting another chance to gain a higher station.

It is not known how this affects fauna or flora, of the other breeds similar to dudes.

Many accredit this system of revival for much of the reckless nature and violent tendencies of the inhabitants of the Ava, in that they seem to not hold life and living it for a long time in much value.

There are many slangy ways to refer to this process, including: going once more, re-do, do-overs, re-clock, hitting the restart button, double time, second wind, once upon a one more time, sealin', soul snatch, punching god, eating a new peach, skipping out, bad dream/good dream, telling a new story, and kissing the pink fairy on her big lips.

The center of the digistructural rebirthing is a place called Manhole, now under and coalition's independent control to let the process of re-entry go so that those making their way bak to Ava's surface can have a fair chance at their own shot on the Sphere.
